Gray Skies

It's almost the end of August. What total hibernation it was! Can't wait to post everything that happened. Hmmm, so where will I start?

August is the birthday month in our family. There's my younger sisters Gracie and IP, my Dad, Uncle Manny and ME! So what happened during my birthday? I had breakfast with my older sisters at Cafe Marco, ice cream with my Ateneo students, and pizza with my UP students. 'Twas fun. I got a bag from Ate Ching, a blouse (which unfortunately was not my size) from Ate Lala, and a $5 bill from my youngest sister (she got that from her first summer job pay). Tons and tons of birthday email (thanks to online birthday reminders!) and loads of SMS greetings. To those who sent text greetings and didn't get any reply, pasensya na, pre-paid pa rin ako.

Then Dean Espina Boy came... It was like a reunion of sorts. I think he was surprised that I am handling the thesis class of Ateneo. I mean, compare me with him (he handles thesis in Diliman), I can't even size up to a pinky of what he has achieved. I asked him if they can offer MA in Diliman during summer so I can pursue post grad studies, and he said, "...that can be arranged." Hehehe... Btw, Ma'am Espina Girl was with him in Davao.

I did mention that I'll cut back on reality TV, didn't I? But Amazing Race is just so... amazing! I surrender to the multi-lingual cousins Mirna and... what's the other girl's name again?... Shmirnoff? Hahaha! I always forget her name. Too bad, they lost because of too much scheming and whatnot. Now my bet had to be Chip and Kim or the Bowling Moms. I can't wait for the Philippine leg of the race. That'll be fun.

Throughout my hibernation, I also discovered a lot of new and exciting edible stuff. Did you know that... Oishi (food brand) have their own cereal line (the choco flakes and fruity loops)? ...And Purefoods already sells canned chicken? ...And Maggi (yes, the instant mami brand) offers low-fat instant hearty soups? ...And the famous chicharon brand, Porky Best, started selling cooked-in-front-of-you chicharon (the best-seller would have to be tuna chicharon)? I also tried cooking pesto on pasta. Technically, I didn't cook because the pesto is instant and I just reheated a cooked left-over pasta. I also rediscover the wonders of raisins and soya milk. I also got the habit of watching Heny Sison's Sunday cooking show "A Taste of Life." Haaaay, food and stress... they go perfectly together.

I did a lot of new things this month. I started buying glossy magazines -- Real Living, BluPrint, Manual, and all the fashion eklavu you can think of. Kikay? Nah, I don't think so. I just needed a different kind of reading, something easy on the brain. I also joined a 5K fun run (that's equivalent to more than 2 acad ovals). My calves hurt after that, but it was worth it. I got a t-shirt, a finisher's certificate and best of all, I did not finish last! I hope I can engage myself to a regular physical wholesome activity. It makes me feel young and competitive.

So about my "secret project"... It's done. I'll probably tell you guys about it come October. Why October? That will also have to be secret. Hahaha...

Back to Hibernation...
