Thursday, April 6 Summer Break sa wakas! every after sem, the feeling is always the same... relief, liberation, complete let off! parang yung feeling ng kakatapos mo lang jumebs. but unlike the shorter sem break, summer break is the time for utmost self discovery. i remember when i was little, my mom would ask us at the start of summer, "o ano'ng gusto nyong pag-aralan? piano, art, dramatics, ballet, etc.?" yes, in our family, summer was spent enhancing our interests or discovering other hobbies. i'm so lucky i have parents who believe in investing in things like those. i mean, gumastos na nga sila buong school year, tapos ok lang na gumastos pa sila ng summer. those lessons don't come cheap, mind you. for piano lessons to be practiced, dapat may piano. for art lessons, dapat kumpleto ang gamit or else magagalit si Mrs. Barba. for dramatics class, you have to spend on costumes and make-up and props ek-ek. and with ballet, you need shoes, tutu, leotards, and costumes for the recital. and as if the summer class was not enough, the break was usually ended with a trip to Cabadbaran, Agusan Del Norte (my mom's province). ganun ka-lupet summer vacations ko noon! for this year, i intend to keep my childhood tradition. of course, i would still have to accommodate my adult commitments like lining up to pay my ITR and doing my summer load which is to interview incoming architecture freshmen. by the way, i'm so happy that the admissions office made my interviewing time more flexible. it starts at 8am and finishes at 2:30pm. now, i can avail of the off-peak rates at the gym. hehehe. i would also like to start a new hobby - gardening! nainggit ako sa kapit-bahay namen na nag-uumapaw ng flowering plants ang planting strip ng sidewalk. i already bought some gardening stuff yesterday - plastic seed pots, seedlings, apron and gloves, water spray, and this interesting planting medium called Cocopeat. i'm not really sure if it is a substitute for soil or it should be mixed with soil. mag-eexperiment muna ako. hehehe i also plan to buy a guitar. para matuloy na rockstar dreams ko. i don't know if i could plan a trip though. i'm so freaking broke. i guess i should buy one of those P1-plane fare ticket and wait for june or september. so many things to do, only 2 months to accomplish all of them. i want to make this the most productive summer of my life. happy vacation everyone! |
