Saturday, June 26 Students' Evaluation Chuvanelles
I thought it was just for formality. I mean, as a student back in college, I always took the evaluation seriously, thinking I could get rid of Chico by giving her the lowest possible score for efficiency and competence. But as we all know, Chico remained and even got the highest faculty ranking in UP College of Arki -- Professor 3! She almost landed as the Dean! But anyway, her mere presence in UP Arki validates that it takes more than an evaluation to kick out a professor. That was my belief until last March... JA (let's keep identities here, shall we?), a full-time faculty at UP Mindanao Arki, will not receive any load for this sem. He is being relieved. Fortunately for me though because I would be given part-time load from the subjects he used to teach. And the reason... you guessed it! Students' Evaluation. Then it hit me, "Shit! I should take this job seriously then." It brought a lot of realizations for me. I guess there are a lot Iens out there who also hope to change the kind of education they're getting from the country's premiere university. Or probably, I'm the only one who wants Chico out back then. Or maybe, I must've been doing something good to deserve another sem of teaching at UP Mindanao. Last week, I got my first student evalutaion results. My rating 1.58 or something equivalent to very good. Just 0.06 shy of becoming excellent! I also got to read some of the comments of my students. It was overwhelming. The only improvement suggested was for me to come in class on time. Hahaha! That's what they get if the teacher runs from downtown Davao to UP Mindanao hinterlands! This sem I promise to be on-time all the time. I'm teaching fourth year design under the topic studio Urban Planning. Sigh.... 'reminds me of my Silvestre days. :) If this is where I'm good, then it's not impossible for me to be the best. Sabi nga sa Adidas: "Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they‘ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It‘s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It‘s a dare. Impossible is a potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing." |
